Sharon Jaksa: Chief Executive Officer
Sharon began her career with the American Red Cross in Lansing as a medical technologist and was given
increasing responsibilities before becoming the Region's Chief Executive Officer in 2005. As CEO, Sharon is
responsible for the collection, processing and distribution of blood products throughout the state of Michigan.

Sharon graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine with a Bachelor’s of Science in
medical technology, and attended the internship program at E. W. Sparrow Hospital.
Denise Amburgey began with the American Red Cross as the assistant controller.
In 1988, she was promoted to the Director of Accounting, and became the controller in 1990. Denise left Michigan for other
opportunities in 1995, then returned to the Blood Services Region in 2003 as the financial
analyst. She assumed her current post in early 2005. 
Michael Izdebski began his career with the American Red Cross in February 2006 as Regional Quality Director. His responsiblities include monitoring the region's quality systems in order to ensure the safety of the blood supply and to assure full compliance with Federal Regulations and all other governing standards. He oversees a highly skilled, professional staff with nearly eighty years of combined American Red Cross experience.
Colleen Smith began her career with the Red Cross in November 2008. Her responsibilities include monitoring the region's collections of red blood cells.
Jim Rummel is a 10-year+ employee of the American Red Cross. During that time, he led the Marketing and
Communications departments, and is currently Director of Regional Accounts.
Shawn Montry joined the American Red Cross as a donor recruiting supervisor in November 2004, and accepted her current
post in May 2005. As the Director of Donor Recruiting, Shawn oversees the functions of donor recruitment, marketing
and communications, and telerecruitment.
