Andy Andy
Andy was a working father who had never been sick before. But when chills, fatigue and heart palpitations kept him from his everyday routine, his wife knew he needed help. Andy won his battle with leukemia thanks to the blood and platelet transfusions that helped him endure a summer of chemotherapy. "I also hope to meet the young man who donated marrow for my
stem cell transplant," says Andy, who now enjoys spending time with his daughters Bethany
and Amy. "I’m in remission today because of blood donors and people like him."

Paxton and Emily Paxton and Emily
Paxton and Emily are two pre-schoolers who are the best of friends. In their short lives, they’ve shared a lot of experiences--including surviving cancer. Paxton and Emily met at a children’s hospital while receiving cancer treatments that included the transfusion of red cells and platelets. Between the two of them, the girls received about 25 units of donated blood. Paxton and Emily enjoy a special friendship today because blood donations helped save their lives.

Matt Matt
As a boy scout and high school athlete, nothing excited Matt more than being part of his community. Even when Matt was diagnosed with bone cancer and needed to have some of
his leg removed, he knew he couldn’t stop in his quest to earn his Eagle Scout ranking and
graduate with his classmates. The blood products Matt received during nine months of chemotherapy helped his recovery. Because of caring blood donors, Matt could realize his dreams: raising money to build a playground pavilion for community events and finishing his senior year in high school.
