Chari Fischer of the Rudyard Lions Club "The Lions are a very caring and hard-working group of men and women who donate a lot of their
time to many different community functions. We’ve found blood drives to be very rewarding.
It’s great to see people give blood for the first time, and to see experienced donors continue to give.
As long as you have people to help, coordinating a blood drive is not a hard thing to do."
Dr.Claudia Bost of Petoskey High School
"I have coordinated blood drives for Petoskey High school since 1988. Over the years, we’ve en-couraged
students to take advantage of this opportunity to share the gift of life by becoming blood
donors. We added a third blood drive at the school a few years ago under the coordination of our
medical occupations students. Given their academic background and training, this drive serves as
a wonderful vehicle for putting into action some of their basic health care skills. We’re proud to be
among Red Cross blood drive sponsors in Northern Michigan. As educators, we train our students
to look beyond the classroom and to seek opportunities to make a difference. Our three annual
blood drives answer this call for courage in making community members strong for one another.
The youth of today will be the blood donors of tomorrow. We appreciate the efforts they make in giving the gift of life to so many people in need."
Tim Booth of Michigan International Speedway "It has been a privilege to partner with the Great Lakes Life Savers of the American Red Cross while
sponsoring the Spirit of America 500 Blood Drive at Michigan International Speedway. This award-winning blood drive is the Region’s largest and has received special recognition from the President
of the United States and from the American Red Cross on state and national levels. The success of
the drive is due in large part to the organization, energy and enthusiasm of the Region’s staff. The
process, from the initial donor recruiting to event logistics, has been consistently well-organized.
Consequently, it is a pleasure to host what has become the largest September 11th blood drive in
the country."
